A study on pulse detection by the optical method

Abstract
By the cardiac pulsatory motion, the pressure variation in the capillares of the finger-tip produces the volume variation in that place. The difference of the light transmittance due to the volume variation was detected by the photoelectric-device. This detected wave form by the optical detection method can be utilized as an information of cardiovascular system, and this waveform is in good agreement with the physiological waveform.
The differential wave of the detected pulse clearly shows the incisura information. Hence, this makes the measuring of the cardiac ejection-time to be easy.
The ejection-time of average for 8 normal persons shows 0.23¡¾0.03 sec.
